This Rolex Day-Date from 1986 features what collectors call a “Fossil Dial” – a unique crack pattern that developed naturally over decades, resembling ancient cracked earth or fossilized stone. The crack is located between the 4 and 5 o’clock position (clearly shown in the pictures). Produced in 1986, this example comes as a complete full set with original box and papers – a rare find for any vintage Day-Date.
The case is crafted from solid 18k yellow gold. The classic fluted bezel catches the light beautifully. The champagne dial has developed a natural crack pattern over time, giving it a one-of-a-kind appearance that no factory can reproduce. The day window at 12 o’clock and the date window at 3 o’clock are powered by the legendary Calibre 3055 movement, known for its robustness and quickset date functionality.
